Ohai thurrr.

I have a few choice words for you.

Wow uh… where do I start on what has been happening since last night between Infinity Ward and Activision. To start, Activision has just made the biggest, most money losing decision EVER. They have dropped Infinity Ward (the company who created Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) which brought in Activision over 1 BILLION DOLLARS. That is a lot of money, and that is what Activision is now losing. The Modern Warfare franchise is finished, and is without a doubt, the best Call of Duty had going for it.

Peter Schonert brought this to my attention last night in a wall post of this article, http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/702911/Security-Appears-Unannounced-At-Infinity-Ward-Studio-Heads-Missing-Staff-Freaked-Out-.html.

The same situation happened to another company called Red Octane. You have at one point, played a game by Red Octane. Does Guitar Hero ring a bell? Yes, this in fact happened to Red Octane with the franchise of Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero was bought by Activision, and they put their name on it. A couple games later they bumped Red Octane off and put the company Vicarious Visions in to create more Guitar Hero games. This will happen to Call of Duty. Treyarch (maker of CoD3 and CoD: World at War) will make Call of Duty 7, and then in 2011 an unannounced company will create a Call of Duty that IS NOT going to be a First Person Shooter. The 2011 CoD game will be an Action/Adventure genre game. There is no set creator to this game, but it will not be the same CoD we all know and love, and sometimes hate. (Source: http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/702928/Activision-Announces-New-Direction-For-Call-Of-Duty-Confirms-Infinity-Ward-Changes-.html?utm_source=g4tv&utm_medium=twitterblog&utm_campaign=so-0907-twittergamenews360-702928&cmpid=so-0907-twittergamenews360-702928#ixzz0h3uVWpDn)

EDIT:: New information surfaced and the 2011 CoD will NOT be the Action/Adventure game I talked about (Source: http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/702911/Security-Appears-Unannounced-At-Infinity-Ward-Studio-Heads-Missing-Staff-Freaked-Out-.html

But! There is a small small light at the end of the tunnel for Infinity Ward! Activision still claims that IW is still “central to the future of Call of Duty.” (Source: http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/702930/Internal-Activision-Memo-Says-Infinity-Ward-Central-To-Call-Of-Dutys-Future.html)

So wow, this is a big big and yet shitty day in gaming. Leave comments, read my previous posts, and spread my blog!

Thanks guys! 🙂

Update!: There is a video of Adam Sessler interviewing Patrick Klepik(? I don’t know, Adam said it fast and I could not really make out what he says.) and here it is; http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/tag/7820/Fall-of-Duty.html
