Ohai thurrr.

I have a few choice words for you.

AIM for the stars.

AOL finally released AIM for Android a month or two ago (I know, I happen to be late, shhh) and with a recent update has put Facebook Chat integration into the mix. This is great for when you do not have someones number, they do not have AIM, but luckily you have their Facebook and you pray that they happen to be online at that very moment because you have to talk to them. This is great for when you are on the go all the time as well or if you want to chat with some buds on AIM while at your least favorite relatives house.

When using AIM for Android beware that this will drain your battery very quickly. When I say quickly I do not mean in a matter of two hours, but it will basically cut your battery time in half compared to normal usage with your phone. But if you log off AIM instead of just leaving it on all day you will not have a problem with any battery issue. Even though this app drains battery, it does benefit a lot. Any changes to your buddy list or any additions to groups you put your buddies in does follow over the next time you log in.

Facebook Contacts have their own group to keep them isolated from your AIM buddies. When it says Facebook Contacts, it means every single one of them. This is the best feature of this phone to me. I rarely use AIM anymore, but with the integration of Facebook Chat, it makes the space this app uses worth it just that much.

  • Available anywhere, anytime
  • Facebook chat
  • The interface is similar to the desktop version in basically every way

  • Kills your battery if not careful

Market verdict: 3.5 out of 5 stars

My verdict: Agreed. My reasoning is that the battery killing is a major flaw to this app.
